An analysis of the scientific literature revealed data on conducting scientific research on materials based on polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) modified using ultrasound. However, information on the effect of ultrasound exposure on changes in the properties of solutions and films based on PVS is limited. The aim of the work was to study the effect of ultrasonic treatment on the properties of PVS-based materials. The following tasks were solved: ultrasonic treatment of PVA solutions, comparative characteristics of the viscosity of modified PVA solutions, optimization of temperature and time modes of PVA-based film formation, investigation of the properties of PVA solutions of various concentrations and films based on them before and after ultrasonic treatment. PVA solutions with different concentrations were treated using an ultrasound probe. After ultrasonic modification of PVA solutions, no significant changes in viscosity were detected. The effect of ultrasonic treatment on the physico-mechanical properties of film samples obtained from PVA solutions with concentrations of 7.5 and 10% was established. A decrease in elongation was observed; for a sample based on a PVA solution with a concentration of 5%, the elongation varied linearly, depending on the duration of treatment. These indicators indicate the uniformity of solutions with a lower concentration and a more correct polymerization structure. Thus, PVA ultrasound treatment is a promising method for modifying polymer solutions to give a PVA-based film more homogeneous structures, including when modifying components used in packaging to prolong the shelf life of food products are introduced into the composition.
