Abstract

This paper presents a study of contemporary Russia's national security through the lens of institutional development models. A review of academic and legislative literature on the topic is provided. The current state of Russia's national security is assessed, characterized by a complex set of threats and factors influencing their dynamics. The current institutional system of Russia's national security is updated. Problems related to coordination and interaction between agencies, the ineffectiveness of the regulatory framework, financial and resource constraints, and challenges in the sphere of social institutions are identified. Three models for the development of Russia's national security are proposed and substantiated. A hybrid approach combining components of all three proposed models is argued to be the optimal model. The conclusion presents the study's main findings.
