Abstract

Successful language acquisition is impossible without taking into account cultural and historical aspects. The linguistic and cultural approach to language learning allows not only to master grammar and vocabulary, but also to understand the cultural context in which these language units function. An important tool is linguocultural collections, such as the “Collection of linguocultural texts on the Russian language,” which introduces students to the history, culture and traditions of the Russian people. The use of regional studies material in the educational process contributes to the development of cultural and communicative competence, which is necessary for successful communication in Russian. The linguistic and regional approach is especially important for repatriated students and those who are just starting to learn the Russian language.
