Abstract

The article examines the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in the higher education system in developing countries and the features of influence. The article reveals that 4 SDGs must take into account the level of development of developing countries and that higher education should be available to all segments of the population of these countries, there should not be dependence only on the help of international institutions, it is necessary to focus on unlocking the potential within the country. One of the priorities of the SDGs should be the creation of conditions for institutional reforms in the field of higher education and the realization of the potential of the population of developing countries. This will allow us to develop and strengthen the field of higher education and the university environment, and as a result provide quality education to our population. The purpose of the article is to analyze the SDGs in relation to higher education in developing countries, and to identify the necessary sustainable measures for the development of the higher education system. Objectives of the article: consider the importance of higher education for sustainable development; study the attitude towards higher education in developing countries and highlight the shortcomings that occurred in the activities of international financial institutions, international donors, and governments in the implementation of policies for the development of the higher education system; an assessment was made of the lack of initiatives and tools to address the lack of points in the SDGs to support the development of the higher education system in developing countries. Results: further steps are identified to create and strengthen higher education systems and institutions in developing countries, as this is a prerequisite for inclusive socio-economic development and environmental sustainability.
